THE JAZZ GALLERY ONLINE
On March 23rd, 2020 The Jazz Gallery started TJG Online!
With the physical shutdown in NYC due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, TJG moved online with virtual and interactive jazz, and over the course of 2020-21 presented Livestream Concerts, weekly Lockdown Sessions, Happy Hour Hangs, Zoom Dance parties, the sharing of past archived performances live from The Jazz Gallery, plus special interviews & commentary with both musicians and major figures in the jazz world on our website on our blog.
The Jazz Gallery Online was a salve to musicians and audiences during the pandemic, becoming an important place to for people from all over the world gather, share and talk about music and what was happening in our lives.
THE LOCKDOWN SESSIONS
The Jazz Gallery Lockdown Sessions began on April 11, 2020 as a way to present concerts during the pandemic. The format mitigated the sound issues that were often found in early at-home livestreams by allowing musicians to pre-record a short set ahead of time. Each week four musicians presented their music (which often included quite amazing video accompaniment) from home and chatted, answering questions from the audience, enjoying friendly banter in between sets. All on Zoom. The Jazz Gallery presented 40 Lockdown Sessions throughout 2020 and 2021, offering a lifeline to musicians and audiences during the pandemic.
Some full Lockdown Sessions from late 2020-2021 are available below and as part of our 30th Anniversary we have been archiving the full 40 sessions, breaking down each musicians’ presentation.

The Jazz Gallery started Livestreaming in June 2020, during the pandemic, offering musicians a place to perform and online audiences a place to hear music and stay connected.
IN CONVERSATION WITH MIGUEL ZENON
In each episode saxophonist Miguel Zenón hosted a conversation & interview, discussing and sharing music, and answering questions via YouTube chat during the program.
"I started this series out of an interest to connect with my colleagues during this time of disconnection, and to bring conversations that usually take place away from the public eye (on planes, sound checks, dinners, etc...) and make them available on a more public platform. The idea is to make these conversations less about biographical information and more about music and musical interests and conceptions. That's why I always ask our guests to choose tracks (their own music or the music by others) which they would want to share and talk about." - Miguel Zenón
