Ben Monder - guitar
Matt Brewer - bass
Johnathan Blake - drums

Ben Monder has played nearly unsurpassable jazz guitar with any number of actual jazz groups. But what he plays with his own group comes from another planet.

- NY Times

You know within about three seconds that something original is coming out of Ben Monder’s electric guitar; a whispering flow of harmonic challenges that fold backward, sideways and across dimensions like time-space origami…He’s like a magician who slows a trick down to ox-cart tempo, and you still can’t figure out how he did it.
– LA Weekly

Ben Monder is a jazz guitarist and composer known for his unique sound and creative approach to the guitar. His work spans a wide range of styles, from traditional jazz to experimental and avant-garde music.

Monder has been an active member of the New York jazz community since the early 1980s and has collaborated with a wide variety of prominent artists including Maria Schneider, Paul Motian, Lee Konitz, and David Bowie, for whom he contributed to the iconic album Blackstar. He continues to perform original music in trio and solo settings, and is a current member of the renowned band The Bad Plus.

In addition to performing on over 200 albums as a sideman he has released several as a bandleader, including Oceana (2005), Hydra (2013), Amorphae (2015), and Planetarium (2024). His compositions are known for combining complex harmonies and forms with lyricism, blending jazz tradition with modern classical and rock sensibilities.
