Cameron Campbell -piano
Conway Campbell Jr -bass
Kabelo Mokhatla -drums
Cameron Campbell, Conway Campbell Jr. and Kabelo Mokhatla present a special night of original music and arrangements. Much like their music, this unnamed trio’s history is layered. The Campbell brothers have played together as a duo for a decade, Kabelo and Cameron have played in various settings for almost four years after meeting at the Manhattan School of Music and Conway joined them there almost two years ago and naturally they started playing as a trio. Their sound has been cultivated within a quintet formed at MSM called In Exile. They have been mentored by Kendrick Scott and Jaleel Shaw which has allowed them to thrive creatively. Individually, members of the trio have shared the stage with Samara Joy, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Jeremy Pelt, Godwin Louis, Joe Farnsworth and Maurice Brown and have toured the United States, Africa, Japan and Brazil. Together, their music is well composed and improvised but is frequently pushed into the realm of complete freedom.
