The Jazz Gallery, NYC is proud to present the return of the Jason Lindner Big Band as part of Signature Series.
“One of the most impressive big bands“ (Jazz Times), The Jason Lindner Big Band is reconvening for a run of shows at The Jazz Gallery after their stellar run for our 30th Anniversary in 2025!
Originally formed in 1995 at Greenwich Village’s Smalls Jazz club, the Jason Lindner Big Band was armed with many of the young creative stars on the New York scene at the time, and brought joy, energy, excitement, soulfulness, and beauty to its many performances. The group also held residency at TJG starting in 2001 and subsequently recorded a 2-CD album "Live at The Jazz Gallery" in 2005 (as part of the club's 10 year Anniversary celebrations!). The album was released in 2007 to much acclaim, and "generates the kind of euphoria that’s usually reserved for something earth-shattering. It’s just that good." (Michael J. West, Downbeat). In 2009, Lindner's band was the winner of the Big Band Rising Star category in Down Beat magazine's critics' poll. (Check out the album, here!)
Jason Lindner has had a longstanding relationship with The Jazz Gallery —he was one of the inaugural group of musicians commissioned when the program began in 2002, was awarded again in 2008, and was also a part of TJG's first Mentoring Series program in 2014, mentoring pianist James Francies. He has experimented various projects and returned to our listening room over the years "stitch[ing] vast threads of connection within the New York jazz world and beyond." (JazzSpeaks).
