Saxophonist/composer Jason Rigby celebrates the release of his new album on Endectomorph Music, Esoteric Graffiti, with a special live performance featuring Mark Guiliana (drums) and Chris Morrissey (bass). The performance marks the next chapter in Rigby’s evolving artistic trajectory and follows the August 2025 release of MAYHEM, a groundbreaking sister record that expanded his long-established acoustic jazz language into a bold hybrid of electronic and acoustic sound worlds.
Esoteric Graffiti builds on this momentum while deepening the focus on collective interaction, rhythmic elasticity, and textural contrast. Where MAYHEM introduced a radical shift in palette, Esoteric Graffiti refines and extends the aesthetic—balancing raw energy with detailed composition and improvisation. The music moves fluidly between driving grooves, abstract soundscapes, and lyric intensity, emphasizing spontaneity and risk while maintaining a strong narrative arc.
The trio brings together three singular voices in contemporary music. Rigby’s incisive saxophone language—by turns volatile, searching, and lyrical—interlocks with Guiliana’s innovative approach to rhythm and Morrissey’s deeply grounded yet harmonically adventurous bass work. Together, they create a sound that is both forward-looking and rooted in the improvisational tradition, blurring genre boundaries while remaining intensely communicative. This album release performance presents Esoteric Graffiti as a living work—shaped in real time by interaction, space, and audience—offering listeners an immersive experience at the intersection of modern jazz, experimental music, and hybrid sonic design.
