LIVE STREAM CONCERTS - LIVE FROM THE JAZZ GALLERY!
Celebrating 25 years of creative music, The Jazz Gallery All-Stars will be closing out our year in a concert that was traditionally played by our co-founder Roy Hargrove. Join us for this very special fundraising event to close out definitely one of the weirder years, and celebrate The Jazz Gallery (& TJG Online) - Where The Future Is Present!
Since its founding in 1995 by Roy Hargrove, Dale Fitzgerald, and Lezlie Harrison, New York City's The Jazz Gallery has been a key institution in the city's jazz and creative music scene. Known as "the most imaginatively booked jazz club in New York" (New York Times), The Gallery has welcomed and nurtured several generations of musicians from around the world, including many who have gone on to critical acclaim as Grammy Award® nominees and winners, MacArthur Fellows, Thelonious Monk Competition winners and finalists, Critics' Poll-winners, and headliners at major international festivals.
The Jazz Gallery celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2020 with a special ensemble featuring many of the leading creative voices in jazz- all of whom cut their teeth on The Jazz Gallery stage. The Jazz Gallery All-Stars Holiday Edition is made up of Miguel Zenón (alto saxophone), Morgan Guerin (tenor saxophone), Joel Ross (vibraphone), Charles Altura (guitar), Orrin Evans (piano), Ben Williams (bass), Kendrick Scott (drums), and special guest Renee Neufville (voice).
The Jazz Gallery first introduced the All-Stars at the JVC Jazz Festival in 2010 for its 15th Anniversary. The group consisted of some of the finest young musicians, bandleaders and composers with serious connections to The Jazz Gallery, including founding member, trumpeter Roy Hargrove and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenon. On the 25th anniversary of the venue, The Jazz Gallery All-Stars made a triumphant return. Their first concert in January at the 2020 Winter Jazz Festival was a massive success. While their concerts were all but been cancelled for 2020, The Jazz Gallery All-Stars will reconvene to perform on The Jazz Gallery stage for our end of year concert, propelling the vision and mission of The Jazz Gallery to the whole world.

"The Jazz Gallery is the foremost venue in New York City to launch the careers of exceptional young jazz artists since it was founded in Roy Hargrove's loft in 1995," - Hank O'Neal, The Jazz Gallery Chairman of the Board
August 28, 1995, we officially opened the doors to The Jazz Gallery as part of the Greenwich Village Jazz Festival. I am extremely proud to have been by the side of our tireless, unconventional, and bold visionaries Dale Fitzgerald and Roy Hargrove. Our friendship was founded on our love for jazz music, art, and culture. We turned that love into creating The Jazz Gallery. What began as a venue in which to showcase jazz art, metamorphosed into an internationally recognized incubator and hub for the youngest generation of musicians to professionally create the art of jazz . In those twenty five years, I (eye) have been present to witness the future of jazz flourish and boldly usher in the 21st century, with our members of the All Stars. From their early Thursday night TJG showcases to collecting prestigious genius and music awards, this special assemblage of musicians, curated by our Artistic Director, Rio Sakairi, represent the here and now, and the possibilities for those coming up from the rear.
The Jazz Gallery was our love child. That love fostered this beautiful institution and hope that we will continue to nurture, raise and encourage the future of jazz. - Lezlie Harrison, vocalist, co-founder; September 17, 2020
