Praised as “clearly a name to watch” by All About Jazz and first prize winner of the North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition, Nicola Caminiti is an Italian saxophonist, composer, and bandleader based in New York City. Considered one of the leading musical figures among his generation for his intensely creative modern concepts based on interplay and rhythmic mastery, still embracing a sense of musical tradition, he has played in world renowned jazz festivals and clubs including Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, Langnau Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Birdland, The Jazz Gallery, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Bar Next Door, Harlem Stage and many more. He has also shared the stage and recorded with Billy Childs, Stefon Harris, Ingrid Jensen, Joe Lovano, Pedrito Martinez, Adam O’Farrill, Arturo O’Farrill and the AfroLatin Jazz Orchestra, Johnny O’Neal, Logan Richardson, Bobby Sanabria, Evan Sherman, Manuel Valera and others. In May 2019, Nicola earned a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Jazz Alto Saxophone at Manhattan School of Music as recipient of the prestigious International Advisory Board Scholarship.
