The newly formed Ole Mathisen Trio is making its first appearance at the Jazz Gallery! Central to the performance is Mathisen's latest multi-movement work "Majorana Zero Modes", a highly charged rhythmic and micro tonal exploit. The piece is inspired by the physicist Ettore Majorana's work on zero-energy quasiparticle excitations. Norwegian-born saxophonist and composer Ole Mathisen has been a celebrated figure on the New York and international jazz scenes for over three decades, and is renowned for his technical brilliance, adventurous compositions, and remarkable versatility across genres—including classical, jazz, electronic, and experimental music.
