Brooklyn-based pianist and composer Sylvie Courvoisier, widely regarded as one of the most original and influential voices in contemporary jazz, announces the release of her new album, Éclats, in spring 2026.
Recorded live during a February 2025 European tour, the album captures Courvoisier’s acclaimed trio with bassist Drew Gress and drummer Kenny Wollesen in performances that fuse precision, freedom, and deep musical trust.
On Éclats, Gress and Wollesen navigate Courvoisier’s intricate writing with fearless elasticity. Time stretches and contracts, structures bend, and spontaneity remains central. “I surprise them and they surprise me,” Courvoisier says. “We’re like kids—we have fun.” That joy—sharpened by virtuosity, precision, and risk—defines Éclats.

About Sylvie Courvoisier
Sylvie Courvoisier is a Swiss American pianist, composer, improviser, and bandleader based in New York City whose work bridges the rigor of European chamber music with the exploratory spirit of the city’s downtown jazz scene. Celebrated for her distinctive compositional voice and fearless improvisation, she has collaborated with artists including John Zorn, Wadada Leo Smith, Evan Parker, Ikue Mori, Mary Halvorson, and Mark Feldman, and has performed at major festivals and venues worldwide.
Courvoisier is the recipient of numerous prestigious honors, including the Swiss Grand Prix for Music, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Music Award, the Deutsche Jazzpreis (International Piano), and the United States Artists Fellowship. She is also a longtime member of the faculty at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.
Her work continues to redefine the possibilities of the piano trio and contemporary jazz composition.
