“Good Intentions” is the newest quintet project lead by Brooklyn based saxophonist and composer Alden Hellmuth. Originally from Hartford, CT, Alden has performed all over the globe at international festivals and venues including Smalls, LPR, Smoke Jazz Club (NYC), Bird’s Eye (CH), Porgy & Bess (AT), Jamboree (ES), Composers Now Festival (BK), the Jazz Aux Écuries Festival (FR), Hartford Jazz Festival (CT), The LOFT Köln (DE), Rochester Jazz Festival (NY), and Ottawa Jazz Festival (CA). Inspired by her upbringing in the jazz tradition and love for creative contemporary music, Alden’s compositions weave through written and improvised material to create a complex sonic landscape. The project “Good Intentions” specifically explores the intersections of the obverse; complexity, simplicity, intensity, and beauty within music and sound. Alden will be joined by Yvonne Rogers on piano, Lucas Kadish on guitar, Kanoa Mendenhall on bass, and Timothy Angulo on drums. They recently recorded her debut album, featuring music from this project, which is set to be released this fall.
