Julieta Eugenio is a jazz tenor saxophonist, composer, and bandleader from Argentina based in New York City. She emigrated to the United States in 2013. She earned a master’s degree from Queens College, studying formally with Antonio Hart, among others. She studied privately with saxophonist Mark Turner and pianist Sam Yahel. Eugenio colaborated with numerous bandleaders including Johnny O’Neal, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bertha Hope and Leon Parker. She leads her own trio with bassist Matt Dwonszyk and drummer Jonathan Barber, and made her leader debut with 'Jump' on Dave Douglas' Greenleaf Music Record label in March 2022 with remarkable reviews from Jazz Times, Downbeat Magazine, WBGO, All Music Guide, The Boston Globe and more. The Julieta Eugenio Trio has won the 2022 DCJazzPrix, an International competition presented by the DC Jazz Fest. October 2022 Julieta has been nominated by the Jazz Music Awards for Best new Artist. In 2023 Julieta was nominated by the GRAMMY Magazine as one of the 10 Jazz Emerging Artists to watch in 2023. In this opportunity, Julieta will be presenting the official Album Release of her New Album “STAY” recorded in late August 2023 with all original compositions and one Jazz standard and released in March 29th 2024. The Album features her trio with Jonathan Barber on drums and Matt Dwonszyk on bass. And a very special guest on Rhodes : Leo Genovese. STAY is an inward spiritual journey, an enlightening process of self-discovery of the inner world within the outside world. The imagination inside our minds, the different dimensions in between, the immersion into the real world, the feeling of body motion while the mind keeps navigating somewhere else, somewhere without time and space. The feeling that stays, the sounds, the silence, the stories, the people, the dimensions, nature, the universe—it's all us.

“Jump is an auspicious debut. Most newcomers try to dazzle with tone, soloing technique, and deliberately complex compositional chops. Conversely, Eugenio offers carefully expressed, seamless solos that shine inside diverse, welcoming compositions that showcase her understated yet infectious and commanding musicality.” - Thom Jurek, All Music ★★★★

"On her debut recording, tenor saxophonist Julieta Eugenio establishes an original, relaxed and ruminative approach." - Downbeat ★★★★

"She plays with the poise of someone who has spent years on the bandstand ... JUMP stands out as one of the most promising debut albums I’ve heard in a long time.” - James Hale, SoundStage Experience ★★★★

"Eugenio makes the most of every opportunity … bringing the intensity level up and down, increasing and decreasing her velocity but always maintaining a fundamental sense of melody." - Stereogum
