Nahuatl for “all, everything”, MOCH is a collaborative electroacoustic duo between mallet percussionist Patricia Brennan and percussionist, drummer and turntablist Noel Brennan (Arktureye). The musical vision of MOCH is to create a unique musical lane by combining a range of sound possibilities. These include from electronic components and music production to complex rhythmic based compositions and improvisation. MOCH also performs with special guests. Previous guests have included bassist Michael Formanek, percussionist Mauricio Herrera, among others. In December 2019, MOCH premiered an audio visual suite composed by Patricia Brennan called “Raíces Jarochas” (Roots from Veracruz) inspired by sounds and memories from Brennan’s native Veracruz. This suite was part of the 2019 John Zorn commissioning series at National Sawdust. In 2021, MOCH members Patricia Brennan along with percussionist/turntablist Noel Brennan, also known as Arktureye, released "Maquishti Prismatic," an electronic re-working of Patricia’s highly praised debut solo album Maquishti, one of the most highly praised experimental albums of 2021. For these Jazz Gallery performances, MOCH will be joined by saxophonist, improviser, composer Ingrid Laubrock and guitarist, improviser, composer Keisuke Matsuno.
