Mountains is a collection of work for large ensemble that plays with spectrums of density and scarcity, of establishing and breaking repetition/pattern, and of structure and freedom, with the goal of allowing the audience and the performers to enter a cathartic state. These compositions were commissioned and recorded last year by The Jazz Gallery for their 2022-2023 Commission Residency Series. Now the band returns to celebrate the September 13 release of "Mountains", Micah Thomas' latest album consisting of recordings from that residency.
